These terms are an agreement between you and WordStick ("the app", "we", "us") for the use of the WordStick web app at app.wordstick.app and the site at wordstick.app. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to them.
WordStick is a hands-free language-learning app: it says a meaning out loud, you say the Japanese, and it schedules each word so it comes back at the right time to stick. It is a learning tool — how far you get depends on your own practice, and we make no guarantee of any particular result, fluency level, or timeframe.
New subscribers get the full app free for 7 days. You won't be charged during the trial, and cancelling before it ends means you're never charged at all.
After the trial, WordStick is USD $8.99/month or USD $59.99/year (prices shown at checkout are final and may include local taxes). Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.
Cancel anytime from the app's settings or your account page — it takes two taps, no emails, no retention hoops. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and you're not charged again.
If we ever change the price of your plan, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before it affects you, and you can cancel before it does.
Don't do the obvious bad things: no reselling or sharing accounts, no copying or scraping the app's content or word data, no reverse-engineering, no using the app to break the law, and no attacking or overloading our servers. We can suspend or close accounts that do — with a refund of unused time unless the conduct was serious.
Your learning progress belongs to you. How we handle your data — including that your spoken audio is never stored by us — is covered in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
The app, its design, word data, audio, and everything in it belong to WordStick or our licensors. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it — not to copy or redistribute it.
We work hard to keep WordStick up and improving, but it's provided "as is": we can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and features may change over time as the app evolves. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim — and nothing in these terms excludes rights that consumer law says can't be excluded.
You can delete your account and synced data at any time from the app or by emailing us. We can close accounts that break these terms (see section 5). If we ever discontinue WordStick entirely, we'll give subscribers at least 30 days' notice and refund any unused prepaid time.
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll show a notice in the app or email you before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and disputes belong to the courts there — though we'd much rather you just email us first.
